PHILADELPHIA — Simon Gagne scored a tiebreaking power-play goal with less than nine minutes left to lead Philadelphia over the Islanders. Gagne scored on a one-timer from the top of the left circle at 11:08 of the third period — just 11 seconds after Brendan Witt was called for interference — to help the Flyers move into a tie with Pittsburgh for second place in the Atlantic Division.

Canadiens 4, Flames 1

MONTREAL — Robert Lang had two goals and an assist and Matt D’Agostini extended his goal-scoring streak to four games as Montreal beat Calgary. Canadiens backup Jaroslav Halak made 32 saves for his first win in seven weeks. Dustin Boyd scored Calgary’s lone goal in the second in his return to the lineup after missing five games because of a shoulder injury.

Pavol Demitra also scored a goal, and Alex Burrows added an empty-netter with 44 seconds left for Vancouver, which has won five straight in this series and the first two this season.
