Canfield team breaks a McKinley Relays record


CANTON — The Canfield High swimming team competed recently at the 23rd McKinley Relays.

The relay of Ryan King, Sam Garea, Gavin Trebilcock and Garrett Trebilcock broke a 14-year record at the event in the 400-yard individual medley relay. The record time of 3 minutes, 45.21 seconds broke the old mark of 3:46.19, set by North Canton Hoover in 1994.

Also, King, Gavin Trebilcock, Garrett Trebilcock and Steven Dalvin won the 400 medley relay in 3:40.18.

Strongsville won the boys and girls titles with 177 and 174 points, respectively.

The Canfield girls team was fourth with 125 points, Boardman was ninth with 93 and Warren Harding was 17th with 19 points.

In the boys standings, Canfield was fifth with 121 points, Boardman was seventh with 109 points and Warren Harding was 12th with 60 points.
