WEAN NEIGHBORHOOD SUCCESS GRANTS Receiving funds


The Wean Foundation is giving $91,855 to its Neighborhood SUCCESS program, under which the foundation gives between $500 and $5,000 to community organizations in Youngstown and Warren. The next Neighborhood SUCCESS grant application deadline is March 16, 2009. The organizations getting money in this round of funding are:

7th Ward Citizens’ Coalition, Youngstown: $3,872, block watch signs.

Agape Recreation Center, Warren: $4,415, YES Project.

Beulah Baptist Church, Youngstown: $3,600, Operation Bread Basket.

Community Volunteer Council, Warren: $4,000, children’s school supplies.

Give the Children a Chance, Youngstown: $2,000, vacant lot gardening program.

Neighborhood/School Association, Warren: $5,000, coats and shoes for low-income children.

Idora Neighborhood Association, Youngstown: $1,200, beautification project.

Neil Armstrong Historical Site, Warren: $3,000, signage and maintenance.

Learning Tree, Youngstown: $5,000, tutoring program.

North East Warren Neighborhood Association, Warren: $1,882, Project Sno Blow

North End Environmental Development (N.E.E.D.), Warren: $5,000, community newsletter.

Mahoning County 4-H, Youngstown: $3,275, urban 4-H club.

Stop One Place Help is Available, Warren: $3,000, direct assistance to the needy.

Mahoning Valley Bulldawgz, Youngstown: $5,000, little league football.

Mill Creek Jr. Baseball League, Youngstown: $4,425, bleacher replacement.

Northeast Homeowners and Concerned Citizens Association, Youngstown: $ 5,000, Oak Street 2010 corridor project.

Plaza View 2 Incorporated, Youngstown: $4,888, after-school enrichment program.

Peruvian Society, Youngstown: $4,898, help immigrants understand American society.

POGO Neighborhood Block Group, Youngstown: $2,400, neighborhood garden.

Sisters of Serenity Mentoring Corp., Youngstown: $5,000, leadership development.

Sojourn to the Past/Youngstown City Schools, Youngstown: $5,000, historical field trips.

St. Patrick’s Church of Youngstown: $5,000, garden program.
