No. 9 Louisville has easy time in 78-56 victory over Lamar

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Freshman Samardo Samuels scored 15 points and Earl Clark added six points, six rebounds and five assists to lead No. 9 Louisville to a 78-56 victory over Lamar on Monday night in the final game of the Marques Maybin Classic.
The Cardinals (5-1) won their third game in as many days. They won their previous two games in the round-robin tournament by a combined 75 points.
Jay Brown had 16 points and eight rebounds and Kenny Dawkins added 14 points for Lamar (6-3), which was held to a season-low point total and shot 35 percent from the field.
Lamar put together a 9-2 run that closed its deficit to 55-42 with 8:43 remaining. Louisville responded with a 15-4 burst that featured Samuels making two layups and taking a charge.
No. 19 Georgetown 100, Savannah St. 38
WASHINGTON — DaJuan Summers, Jessie Sapp and Austin Freeman all had 14 points and Greg Monroe added 13 for Georgetown.
The Hoyas (6-1) shot 69.8 percent from the field (37-of-53) and held Savannah State (5-4) to 22.8 percent (13-of-57). The Tigers have lost four of five.
Two days after holding American University to 12 points in the first half, the Hoyas led Savannah State 57-15 at the break.
Raye Bailey led the Tigers with 14 points.
Women
No. 10 Baylor 83, Lamar 36
WACO, Texas — Danielle Wilson had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Baylor.
The Lady Bears (8-1) started the game with a 24-2 run over the first 12 minutes. Lamar didn’t hit its second field goal until 7:53 remained in the first half.
The Lady Bears opened the second half with a 15-6 run to take a 49-16 lead.
Baylor finished with a 64-23 rebounding edge.
Ang Green led the Lady Cardinals (5-2) with 11 points.
No. 14 Rutgers 45, Georgia 34.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Junior guard Epiphanny Prince scored 14 points to become the sixth-fastest player in Rutgers’ history to reach 1,000 points.
Georgia (7-3), playing its seventh game in 13 days, committed a season-worst 26 turnovers in losing its second straight game.
Brittany Ray finished with 13 points for Rutgers (4-2) in the Jimmy V Classic.
