Slippery Rock 105, Penn State Wilkes Barre 37

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Senior guard Denell Stephens recorded his fourth double-double when he scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Morrow Field House. The win gave the Green and White a 7-0 record and equalled last year’s win total (7-20). The Rock, under the direction of first-year head coach Kevin Reynolds, is off to its best start since 1963-64, when a Hank Baierl-coached squad won its first nine games. Monday’s game marked the fifth time this season that SRU scored more than 100 points; the school record for passing the century mark is 15 by the 1990-91 team. Senior wing player Jamar Scales scored 15 points while junior guard Maurice Douglas added 14 points and seven rebounds in a substitute role. Junior guard Michael Evans Jr. pitched in 13 points and senior guard Maron Brown added 11 points. Senior point guard Kyle Camper handed out nine assists and scored nine points while junior post player Gary Satterwhite (Farrell, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) and sophomore post player Jade Burka each snared eight rebounds.

Juniata 75, Westminster 65

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Senior guard Bobby Glass (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) scored a career-high 16 points in the home loss. Glass led the Titans (0-9) in scoring on 6-10 shooting including 4-6 from 3-point range. Senior center/forward Steve Bielich also scored 15 points to go with his team-high eight rebounds. Junior forward Ryne Murray bucketed 11 points, all in the second half, to go with a team-high four assists and five steals. David Thompson led the Eagles (2-6) with 24 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor,.

WOMEN

Point Park 82, Westminster 65

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Sophomore guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville) led the Titans with 15 points while senior guard Gina Brunetti (Canfield/Cardinal Mooney) bucketed 14 points. Junior Amy Dolsak (McDonald) scored 13 points as did her sister freshman Emily Dolsak (McDonald) with a career-high 13. Amy Dolsak also led the Titans with a career-high 15 rebounds. Westminster committed 23 turnovers compared to Point Park’s nine, while the Titans shot 38.2 percent (21-55) against the Pioneers firing 45.2 percent (28-62) a clip. Ashley Henderson and Marissa Reinhard paced the Pioneers with 16 points apiece as two of four Point Park players to score in double figures.

Thiel 61, Chatham 41

PITTSBURGH — Senior forward Amber Bodrick (Mooney) scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed 13 boards as Thiel won its first game.
