Campbell wins 3rd straight; Newton Falls edges Struthers


CAMPBELL — Senior Nate’tay Jones-Logan had 11 points and three steals to lead the Campbell Memorial High girls basketball team to Monday’s 61-36 victory over Youngstown Christian.

Junior Tashir Uceta had 10 points and seven steals while sophomore Iesha Moses had nine points and 15 rebounds for Campbell (3-0).

Sarah Such and Jayaira Grhim each added 10 points for the Red Devils, whose other wins were over Beaver Local (45-43) and Western Reserve (39-25).

Campbell, under first-year coach Mike Szenborn, plays at Lakeview on Wednesday.

Kristi Cooper’s 14 points paced Youngstown Christian (1-3).

Newton Falls 65, Struthers 60

STRUTHERS — Kelsey McGegor scored 26 points and Blaine Chapman added 20 as Newton Falls rallied in the final quarter to defeat Struthers.

The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 22-10 in the final quarter. Dana Mathews led the Wildcats with 28 points and Katelyn Ardale added 15.

Howland 65, Hubbard 30

HUBBARD — Kelly Barzak scored 21 points, 11 of them in the third quarter for Howland (4-0).

The Tigers, who jumped out to a 33-12 halftime lead, also got 14 points from Erika Nites.

Hubbard (2-3) was led by Cora Julian with eight points.

Beaver Local 61, Liberty 37

LISBON — By disrupting Liberty’s offense with a half-court defense, Beaver Local held the Leopards scoreless in the first quarter.

Senior guard Macy Weber scored 15 points while senior center Briana Riccardi had 14 points.

Junior guard Sam Cianni had eight points, five steals and five assists for Beaver Local, which held a 36-5 halftime lead.

Warren Harding 71, Niles 27

WARREN — The Raiders’ speed and size fueled a quick start as the Raiders breezed to their third straight win.

Harding (3-1) made 31 of 54 goals goals as the Raiders had a 20-9 lead after eight minutes.

Despite dropping into a zone in fourth defense in the fourth quarter, Harding’s defense still held Niles scoreless in final period.

Aundrea Baldridge had 14 points, Jasmine Kirkland 13 and Anita Brown 10 for Harding, which lost its opener to Howland, before beating Champion (57-47) and East (47-40).

P.J. Notar is in his third season as Harding’s head coach on his second stint.

Theresa Rolfe’s 12 points paced the Red Dragons (0-3).

Ursuline 66, East Liverpool 33

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Irish (2-2) built a commanding 31-16 lead by halftime. Ursuline put 14 players in the scoring column with aurielle Irizarry leading the way with 12 points. She also had four steals.

Crestview 64, Warren JFK 42

WARREN — Marissa Newbaur tossed in 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Crestview (3-1).

Hillary Chillis added 14 points and Chelsa Bowker 13 for the Rebels.

Paige IKlaric and Marissa Nocera each had 12 points for the Eagles (2-2).

South Range 61, Jackson-Milton 32

NORTH JACKSON — Abby Schuler scored 16 points for the Raiders. Alicia Withers and Patty Schuster each netted eight.

For the Bluejays, Alyssa Chine scored 14 points.

Lisbon 59, Leetonia 29

LISBON — Megan Reynolds and Anna Dunn outscored the Bears as the Blue Devils improved to 2-0.

Reynolds led the way with 16 points and Dunn added 14 while Katie Snoddy chipped in with 10.

Lynsie Davis had seven points for Leetonia (1-2).

McDonald 64, Mineral Ridge 47

MINERAL RIDGE — The Blue Devils (3-0) rushed out to a 15-1 lead in the first quarter and they were in command 57-40 at the end of the third period.

Lindsay Repp paced McDonald with 16 points. Ar’Anna Williams grabbed 10 rebounds and she had five assists.

Jamie Stellmar had three steals. Haley Garris led the Rams with 11 points.

Lowellville 58, Neshannock 54

LOWELLVILLE — Taylor Hvisdak scord 20 points for the Rockets (1-1). Jamie Hynes contributed 19 points and eight rebounds while Ashley Moore had 11 points and five rebounds.

For Neshannock (1-1), Courtney Frengel scored 31 points.

Sandy Valley 60, Southern 29

SALINEVILLE — Southern was held to just 14 points over the first three quarters of play and was soundly defeated by Sandy Valley.

Ashlee Russell scored 10 points for Southern, while Danielle Grooms and Carli Nicholson had 19 and 17 points respectively for Sandy Valley.

Pymatuning Valley 57, Maplewood 49

ANDOVER — Rose Lane fired in 22 points and Constance Stech added 15 as the Lakers continued unbeaten with a 3-0 record and they are 2-0 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference.

Brittaqny Rumpole led the Rockets (3-2, 3-1) with 16 points. Ellie Engstrom pulled down 12 rebounds. Michelle Sloan chipped in with 15 points and she had six assists.

Lordstown 48, Southington 40

LORDSTOWN — Tied 20-20 at intermission, unbeaten Lordstown (3-0, 3-0 NAC) outscored Southington (1-2) 15-6 and held on to win.

Kelsey Wickline, Lindsay Harrison and Brianna Blodgett scored 17, 16 and 10 points respe;ctively for the Red Devils. Blodgett pulled down 10 rebounds.

Kaylynn BarBarco led the Wildcats (1-2) with 14 points. Ashley Dietz added 11.
