Man injured in car-train collision in Beloit

BELOIT — A truck traveling eastbound on state Route 165 collided with a train early Monday evening.

Firefighters for the Beloit Fire Department said the man, whose name was not released at press time, turned onto the tracks, hitting the train head-on at about 6:30 p.m.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Canton, and firefighters said he was in serious but not critical condition as of late Monday night.

No one on the train was injured.

The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol also assisted on the call.
