PITTSBURGH — Sam Young scored 28 points and Pittsburgh held Vermont scoreless for more than four minutes at the start while opening a 13-point lead to remain unbeaten. DeJuan Blair finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds in only 23 minutes. Young also had nine rebounds.

Michigan 81, No. 4 Duke 73

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — DeShawn Sims scored a career-high 28 points and matched his career high with 12 rebounds to lead Michigan. Duke made just three of 27 3-point attempts before connecting on four in a row to pull within four points in the final minute. Michigan made enough free throws to seal the upset and hundreds of fans from the sold-out crowd rushed the court.

No. 5 Gonzaga 70, Indiana 54

INDIANAPOLIS — Josh Heytvelt scored 17 points and Jeremy Pargo added 13 as Gonzaga won the first basketball game played at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indiana (4-4) kept it close but couldn’t overcome 25 turnovers or 30.4 percent shooting.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Earl Clark had 16 points and 10 rebounds as Louisville bounced back from an upset loss to Western Kentucky last week. Terrence Williams added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Cardinals (3-1) overwhelmed the Sycamores (0-6).

WASHINGTON — Chris Wright was 8-of-10 from the field and scored a career-high 22 points for the Hoyas. Georgetown coasted late after a dominant first half in which the Hoyas hounded the Eagles into 20 percent shooting, more than twice as many turnovers as field goals, and only 12 points.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Jack McClinton scored 23 points and James Dews added a season-high 18 for the Hurricanes. Miami (5-2) matched a season best with eight 3s-pointers, while Kentucky (5-3) misfired on 23 of 25 from behind the line.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Stephen Curry scored 44 points for Davidson, including a 30-footer with just over a minute left and the two clinching free throws with 4.1 seconds to go. The nation’s leading scorer matched his career high.
