Canton McKinley 78, Fitch 24: AUSTINTOWN — The Bulldogs had little trouble in rolling to a 63-15 lead by the end of the third quarter. McKinley put 10 players in the scoring column with Syndee Tenn leading the way with a game-high 20 points. Orlandriea Kirksey added 12, Ameryst Alstun 11 and Justina Owens 10. The Falcons (1-2) were paced by Lauren Keller with five points.

Lakeview 49, Girard 44: CORTLAND — Sophomore Mackenzie Palette scored 19 points and made four assists and four steals for the Bulldogs (1-2). Casey Watson contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds. For the Indians (1-3), Katelynne Brainard scored 12 points and Chelsea Guerrieri had 10.

Brookfield 48, Maplewood 33: BROOKFIELD — The Warriors’ (2-1) held the Rockets (3-1) to four points in the first quarter and four in the second as they held a 23-13 lead at intermission. Kodi Brenner, Ashley Swezey and Page Wallace scored 15, 13 and 12 points respectively for Brookfield. Wallace grabbed four rebounds and Meghan Reiser had six assists. Michelle Sloan led the Rockets with 16 points and she had three assists. Brittany Rumple added 13 points and she pulled down eight rebounds.

Liberty 68, LaBrae 43: LIBERTY — Shane’ Thomas scored 25 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Liberty, which outscored LaBrae 21-7 in the second quarter to take control. Melissa Dykes added 11 points for the Leopards (2-1), while Mindy Dykes and ChiChi Merriweather each scored 10 points. Emily Potter scored 12 points to lead LaBrae.

Chaney 56, Mathews 49: YOUNGSTOWN — Alyssa Sykes tossed in 15 points and paced Chaney to its second straight win. Macinde North added 14 ponts and Danielle Brooks pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds for the Cowgirls. Mathews (1-3) was led by Emily Culp and Lindsey Binder with 12 points each, while Binder also had 11 rebounds.

Champion 42, Hubbard 40: CHAMPION — The Golden Flashes (1-2) gave away a 12-point lead in the final six minutes, but Briana Lewis and Paige Loychik made free throws in the final six seconds. Erika Stevens scored 14 points to lead Champion. Lewis was fouled with six seconds remaining and made 1-of-2 free throws. She missed the second shot and Champion was awarded the ball after it went out of bounds. Loychik was fouled with 1.7 seconds to play and split a pair of free throws. Cara Julian scored 23 points for Hubbard (2-2); her three-point play with 20 seconds to play tied the score at 40.

South Range 53 Poland 39: POLAND — The Raiders got balanced scoring to defeat Poland. Mackenzie Pfiefer, Sam Smith, Gab Naples and Patty Schuster all scored eight points for South Range, which led 25-20 at halftime. LeAnna Yeager scored 12 points for Poland.

West Branch 48, Carrollton 40: CARROLLTON — The Warriors (2-0, 1-0) limited Carrollton to two points in the second quarter in building a 23-13 halftime lead and then they held on to record their first Northeastern Buckeye Conference win. Emily Rekolt scored 13 points, while Emilee Zets finished with 12 and she pulled down nine rebounds. Tessa Sanders led Carrollton (1-3, 1-1) with 13 points. Mandy Noble added 11.

Howland 59, Jefferson Area 14: ASHTABULA — The Tigers’ defense held Jefferson to six points in the first quarter, four in the second and two in each the third and fourth. Kelly Barzak scored 19 points and she pulled down 10 rebounds and and had three steals for the Tigers (3-0). Abby Nicholas scored 14 points and she had six assists. Lizzy Ziereski led Jefferson with seven points.

BOYS

Youngstown Christian 77, Jackson-Milton 59: NORTH JACKSON — Anthony Walkes led the Eagles’ balanced scoring attack with 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for Youngstown Christian (2-0) were Caleb Yanno with 15, John Pecchia with 10 and Olonzo Johnson with 10. Jacob Carlile scored 18 points for the Bluejays (0-1). Bobby Schnellbach scored 16 while Ben Carlile scored 12.

Kennedy Catholic 55, Lakeview (Pa.) 38: STONEBORO, Pa. — The Eagles (2-0) won the Lakeview Tip Off Tournament championship game as Kyle Randall scored 30 points and he had five steals. Aundre Jones finished with 10 points and he pulled down 16 of 33 rebounds. Ben Bires led Lakeview with 12 points and Dylan Bertin had 10.
