Western Carolina 89, Kent St. 84, OT
KENT — Brigham Waginger scored 20 points, including five in overtime, to lead Western Carolina over Kent State. Kent State’s Al Fisher hit a foul shot with seven seconds left to tie the game at 77-77 and force the overtime. Brandon Parks scored 22 points and Fisher had 12 for Kent State.
Dayton 54, Akron 50
AKRON — Charles Little’s dunk with 1:56 left gave Dayton the lead and Chris Johnson hit two foul shots with three seconds left to preserve it. Brett McKnight’s 3-pointer with 3:45 remaining gave Akron (5-3) a 50-47 lead. A foul shot by London Warren and two by Kurt Huelsman tied it before an Akron miss led to Little’s dunk that put the Flyers (8-0) ahead to stay. The Zips missed their last three shots from the field and had two turnovers. Chris Wright had 18 points for Dayton, which shot just 34 percent from the field and was only 1-of-16 on 3-pointers. Anthony Hitchens scored 17 points and Jimmy Conyers had 10 for Dayton.
Cincinnati 87, UAB 80
CINCINNATI — Deonta Vaughn came off the bench for the first time since his freshman season and scored 16 points to lead Cincinnati. The junior guard, who is the Bearcats’ only double-digit scorer at 13.3 points per game, was out of the starting lineup against UAB (5-3) for the first time in 66 games. Coach Mick Cronin declined to give a reason before the game.
Miami (Ohio) 94, Northwestern St. 66
OXFORD, Ohio — Michael Bramos scored 31 points including all but two of the points in a pivotal 16-4 second-half run for Miami (Ohio). Bramos hit 8 of 11 shots behind the arc as the RedHawks (4-3) hit 11 of 20. Tyler Dierkers added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Kenny Hayes scored 11 points. Keithan Hancock had 15 points off the bench for Northwestern State (4-4).
Lamar 76, Ohio 67
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kenny Dawkins scored 19 points, including a 3-pointer to start a decisive run in the second half for Lamar. Tristan Worrell scored 21 points and Brandon McThay added 18 for the Cardinals (6-1). Jerome Tillman had 25 points for Ohio and Justin Orr scored 19.
