COLUMBIANA — ApologetiX, the Christian rock band known for its Weird Al-type parody songs with a Biblical slant (“Smoke on the Water” becomes “Walk on the Water”) will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St.
The Pittsburgh-area band takes its name from the Greek word “apologia,” which means “to defend.” Early Christians were called on to be “apologetics,” which means they are to defend their faith against those who question it.

Stambaugh youth band to give annual concert
YOUNGSTOWN — The Henry H. Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will present its eighth annual free Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. The band is composed of students from northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Membership is by audition and is open to students in the ninth through 12th grades.
A highlight will be “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed, featuring an antiphonal trumpet choir and the Mount Olivet Handbell Choir. Conductors for the concert are John Veneskey, director of bands in the South Range School District; Dr. Steven L. Gage, director of bands at Youngstown State University; and Thomas A. Groth, retired director of bands at Boardman High School.

Musical production of the Nativity Story
CANFIELD — Move Over Broadway Productions will present “Believe: Angels and All Children” at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and next Sunday at St. Michael Church, state Route 46.
The ecumenical musical features tells the Nativity Story. “Believe: Angels and All Children” is directed by Marlene Menaldi Strollo, with musical direction by Jodine Pilmer and choreography by Nick Opritza, Melanie Williams and Joanna Andrei.
This production will benefit the St. Michael Family Life Center Building Fund and is free to the public. A free-will offering will be accepted at intermission. For information, call (330) 533-8789
‘Spirit of Christmas’ at Westminster College
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster College’s Celebrity Series will present “Spirit of Christmas,” a Radio City Music Hall-style show, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 in Orr Auditorium.
The program features Christmas songs with dazzling costumes and high-kicking dancers.
A pre-show buffet dinner in the Witherspoon Rooms of McKelvey Campus Center is available. Tickets for the meal are $25 for a single, $48 for a couple. Dinner reservations will be taken through Friday.

‘Holy Supper’ celebrates Carpatho-Rusyn culture
CAMPBELL — “The Holy Supper” will be presented by the Youngstown-Warren Carpatho-Rusyn Society on at 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 463 Robinson Road. A pageant highlighting the customs and traditions of a Holy Supper as practiced by Carpatho-Rusyn families on Christmas Eve will be presented in costume and with a colorful kitchen stage setting.
A dinner will follow consisting of 12 traditional foods, including home-made mushroom soup. St. Nicholas will give “golden coins” to attendees, and ethnic and religious items will be available for purchase.

Choir performance aids Beatitude, Habitat
YOUNGSTOWN – The fourth annual holiday choir performance to benefit Beatitude House and Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County will be at 2 p.m. next Sunday at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave. The Beatitude House children’s choir will perform, along with local choir Cantamus 10. A goodwill offering will be collected. Tax-deductible program sponsorships are also available.
