Mission
In part, to provide medical care to infants, children, adolescents and burn victims of all ages, regardless of ability to pay.
Promise
“To treat every child as if he or she was our own, to treat everybody the way we’d like to be treated, to turn no child away because of inability to pay.”
The hospital, a joint venture between Akron Children’s and Humility of Mary Health Partners, will begin accepting patients Monday. It cost $44 million to develop: Akron Children’s and HMHP paid $13 million each to Forum Health for the 23-acre site; ACH spent an additional $11 million on construction and renovation and $7 million on equipment and furnishings.
Services include:
Pediatric emergency room open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Outpatient hematology/oncology clinic and infusion center.
Inpatient pharmacy.
Radiology.
Electroencephalography (EEG).
Full-service laboratory.
Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Transportation, including access to a squad unit and a helicopter.
Decontamination room with entry directly from outside.
Features include:
Private rooms with bath and overnight accommodations for parents.
Child-oriented decor, including artwork done by students from Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties mounted on the walls.
Bedside admission.
Unrestricted visiting hours.
Room service dining menu.
Staff specially trained in suturing children.
Emergency room “fast track” beds for patients with less serious needs.
