SENIOR CITIZENS


AARP 4339

• Austintown AARP Chapter 4339 will meet Tuesday for an annual Christmas luncheon at 1 p.m. at the Saxon Club on Meridian Road. A short business meeting will take place for announcements.

The next membership meeting will be Jan. 13, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road. Blood pressure will be taken beginning at noon, and the meeting for election of officers and installation will be at 1 p.m.

COITSVILLE

• Coitsville Seniors will have a Christmas party at 1 p.m. Monday at the town hall. Members are reminded to take a place setting for the luncheon. There will be a Christmas carol sing-a-long, a 50-50 raffle, cards and bingo.

CROATIAN PENSIONERS

GOLDEN PILLARS

• An 11 a.m. liturgy will precede Tuesday’s noon meeting of the Golden Pillars at St. Mary Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown.

Those attending are asked to take canned goods, food products and monetary donations to give to St. Vincent de Paul Society for the needy. Eleanor Hnat will preside, birthdays and anniversaries will be observed, and cards and bingo will be played. Members should take their own place settings for the luncheon.

GIRARD SENIORS

• Girard Senior Citizens Club will have a Christmas party at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s on Logan Way. The Senior of the Year will be announced during a brief business meeting, and December birthdays and anniversaries will be celebrated. The next meeting will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 7 at the center, 16 N. State St.

J.C. PENNEY

• Retirees of J.C. Penney will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday for a luncheon at Denny’s in Boardman.

K.C.Ettes

• A Christmas luncheon for members of the K.C.Ettes of Poland will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Scacchetti’s Steakhouse in Tiffany Square on Boardman-Poland Road. Officers serving as hostesses will be Ruth Burns, Theresa Mangone, Rosella Fiumara and Frances Jeswald. Donations will be accepted for the Salvation Army.

LOCAL 880

MARTHA LUPSE

• Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played when Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Ted Conner will give the devotions. The annual Christmas luncheon will be a Swiss steak meal catered by the Poland United Methodist Women. POLICE/FIRE RETIREES

• The Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, District 2, Chapter 10, will have a Christmas party at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Brandywine Clubhouse, 3390 Flo-Lor Drive, Youngstown. Members are asked to take a covered dish (no desserts). In lieu of a gift exchange, members are asked to take a new, unwrapped gift for a child to be donated to the Toys For Tots campaign. ST. ANTHONY

• St. Anthony Senior Club will have a Christmas dinner at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Hall on Logan Avenue. The committee will be Marion and Steve Degenero, Mary Ann and John Julian, and Mike Sovik. Dues for 2009 will be accepted.

ST. BRENDAN

• St. Cyril Seniors will have a Christmas party Thursday in the church hall after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. A catered lunch will be served at noon at a cost of $8.

A gift exchange of $1 will take place. Each member is asked to wrap the gift and put his or her name on it. Reservations are required by Monday. Birthdays and anniversaries will be observed, and there will be a money raffle and bingo.

ST. JOSEPH GOLDENAGERS

• St. Joseph Goldenagers of Austintown will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Lyons Hall for an annual catered Christmas party. Evelyn Menaldi will preside, birthdays and anniversaries will be honored, and raffles and games will follow.

ST. ROSE

• St. Rose Senior Parishioners will meet at noon Thursday for a Christmas party at Amen Corner, South Main Street, Girard. Those attending must have a ticket.

SAXON

Entertainment will be a skit by the Way, Way Off Broadway Players, and members are asked to take a wrapped $1 gift for an exchange.

• St. Christine’s Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parish center, with Ruth Infante presiding. Bruno’s Restaurant will cater the Christmas dinner, and reservations are closed. December birthdays will be acknowledged, and there will be attendance prizes, a 50-50 raffle, and cards and bingo. The next meeting will take place Jan. 7, 2009.

SILVER AND GOLD

• Silver and Gold will have a Christmas party at noon Thursday at the rectory of St. Stephen of Hungary Church. Members are reminded to take a wrapped white elephant gift item.

SUNSHINE

• Henry Testa will preside when members of Sunshine Seniors meet for a Christmas party at noon Dec. 16 at Byzantine Center at the Grove. The event is for members only, and reservations or cancellations are due no later than Monday by calling Vera DeFuria at (330) 792-6607 Birthdays and anniversaries will be honored, and bingo will be played.
