Mended Hearts seats officers at brunch
BOARDMAN — Officers of Mended Heart, Chapter 7, for the 2009-10 season were installed by Mary Maguire, national assistant regional director, during an annual brunch that took place Dec. 7 at Avion on the Water in Canfield.
Bill Zavarello was inducted as president of the organization, and seated as his associate officers were Joe Clark, vice president; Donald Feindt, treasurer; and Daisy Pullen, secretary.
Heading various committees will be Pat Feindt, scholarships; Dolores Iannucci, programs; Lee Meadows, public relations; Caroline Hake, membership; Grace Leash, telephone; Erwin Schwartz and Meadows, visiting program; and Harold Hake, health fairs and fundraising.
Zavarello, an accredited visitor, is also a registered volunteer at RSVP in Youngstown and a volunteer in the gift shop at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Belmont Avenue.
Mended Hearts will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Azalea Room at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman Campus. Karen Hahn will be the speaker, and an optional dinner will be available at 5:30.

Healthy holiday cooking class offered
CORTLAND — The Trumbull County Health Department and Ohio State University Extension office will have a healthy holiday cooking class from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 12 at the Agricultural and Family Education Building, 520 W. Main St., Suite 1.
The class, which is free, will teach easy holiday foods, healthy holiday foods, foods low in fat, sugar and calories, and food safety. Recipes and demonstrations will be provided.

YOUNGSTOWN — American Business Women’s Association Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter will have its monthly meeting Wednesday at the Blue Wolf Banquet Center on Lockwood Boulevard.
