Crestview edges W. Reserve in overtime


BERLIN CENTER — Jakob Leon scored 25 points Friday to lead the Crestview High basketball team to a 77-73 overtime victory over Western Reserve.

The score was tied 67-all at the end of regulation of the season opener.

Brandon Gates added 14 points for the Rebels while Adam Coppock scored 11 and Carter Hill had 10.

Jake Barker scored a team-high 24 points for Western Reserve and he grabbed seven rebounds. Justin Lude added 12 points and Eric Kennehan had five assists.

Columbiana 71, Leetonia 64

LEETONIA — An eight-point third quarter was critical in Leetonia’s slippage after leading in the first half.

Entering the second half with a 37-30 lead, Leetonia lost its lead when Columbiana put up 21 points.

Despite scoring one fewer point in the fourth frame, the Bears weren’t able to overcome the deficit.

Travis Denmeade had 19 points while Tyler Denmeade and Kevin Blinsky added 16 apiece for the winners.

Jake McNally had a game-high 22 points for Leetonia.

Southern 53, Lisbon 50

SALINEVILLE — Sophomore Trey Griffith made Southern’s final four points from the foul line to rally the Indians from a 50-49 deficit.

Griffith finished with a game-high 15 points while Andrew Diaz added 12 points and as many rebounds to aid Southern (1-0).

Todd Padurean had 12 points, including three 3-point goals, and Alex Thomas 10 points to spark Lisbon (0-1).

Sebring 66, Lordstown 48
