Slippery Rock 111, Salem (W.Va.), 39
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Senior guard Amanda Nero, a Lowellville High graduate, scored 13 points as Slippery Rock (3-4) broke a school record for single-game scoring. Thursday’s point total eclipsed the former school record set in 1982-83, when SRU dumped Indiana (Pa.) by a 109-69 margin. Thursday’s game was the first time SRU surpassed the 100-point mark since the 1999-2000 season when the Green and White recorded a 101-79 win at Clarion. Salem’s (0-5) point total was the lowest allowed by the Rock since SRU held Clarion (60-39) and Lock Haven (58-39) to the same point total during the 2005-06 season. Junior point guard Nikki Presto scored a career-high 21 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out five assists to lead The Rock. Senior post player Sasha Sales added 20 points, a team-high seven rebounds and four assists; senior post player Haley Gaidosh chipped in 18 points and junior post player Jess Schake finished with 14 points, six rebounds and six steals.
