State Theatre demo closes downtown street next week
ON SCHEDULE: Demolition of the former State Theatre building continues in downtown Youngstown, making way for a center for high-tech ventures. The State Theatre was built in the fall of 1927 and was the fourth picture house to be at that location on West Feeral Street. It later served as the Agora rock nightclub.
YOUNGSTOWN — Boardman Street between Hazel Street and Vindicator Square will be closed from Monday through Friday due to demolition work on the State Theatre.
A crane will be placed on Boardman Street for the remaining demo of the building.
The posted detour for Boardman Street eastbound will be Vindicator Square to Front Street to Hazel Street. The posted detour for Boardman Street westbound will be Hazel Street to Federal Street to Vindicator Square.
