McDONALD COUNCIL Agenda
Village officials handled these matters during their meeting Wednesday:
Received an update regarding efforts to finalize a comprehensive development plan for the village. The three key components of the plan are building a trail connecting the Lake-to-River Bike Trail that runs from Ashtabula to East Liverpool; enhancing an industrial road access near the village’s industrial park; and improving storm-water runoff in a section of the village, Mayor Glenn W. Holmes noted. The Ryan Homes development near Indiana, Illinois and Ohio avenues suffered heavy flooding because of severe storms in the summer of 2003, the mayor recalled, also saying that the industrial enhancement should help nearby businesses. The plan is in the second phase and could be analyzed more closely in January or February, Holmes said.
Heard that this year’s curbside leaf pickup program has ended. Residents who still have leaves on their property are encouraged to place them in bags and call the administration building at 530-5472, noted Thomas Domitrovich, village administrator.
Announced plans to hold a public meeting next month regarding the use of outdoor wood boilers. Some residents will likely use the devices as an alternative heating source for their homes while trying to get around anticipated high natural gas bills this winter, but some people don’t always use them properly, Councilman Scott W. Seitz said. The boilers emit a lot of smoke, which can be a problem or health concern for neighbors, said Seitz, who also heads council’s planning commission. No date has been set for the session.
