Woman arrested for assaulting pregnant woman with car

YOUNGSTOWN— A city resident was arrested after hitting another woman with her car Monday afternoon.

Laresa Tolbert, 20, Willow Court, was taken into custody for felonious assault after using her car to strike an 18-year-old woman who told police she is seven-weeks pregnant.

The victim told police she and a friend were walking home from class at Life Skills on Market Street just before 3 p.m., through the parking lot of Auto Zone, 3323 Market St., when she saw Tolbert speeding through the lot directly at her.

The victim said she was hit and pushed onto the hood of the vehicle before sliding off and hitting her head.

A Life Skills employee said he didn’t see how the confrontation began, but he did see Tolbert run into the victim with her car.
