YOUNGSTOWN — The third suspect in a home invasion over the weekend is in police custody.
Daniel A. Lopez, 18, of Youngstown, turned himself over to Youngstown police Sunday night, in connection with an aggravated robbery.
Youngstown Police Capt. Ken Centorame said detectives spent 48 hours looking for Lopez before he turned himself in.
Centorame said Lopez is one of three suspects in the home invasion that occurred on Clinton Street about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
“Detective Sgt. Ronald Rodway and Detective Sgt. Richard Spotleson should be commended for the effort put forward on this case,” he said. “These men worked on this case for almost 48 straight hours to bring [Lopez] in.”
Michael Mims, 21, of Youngstown, is another suspect. Police said he was shot while in the house and had minor injuries, which were treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mims was then released into police custody and taken to Mahoning County Jail.
A clerk from the Youngstown Municipal Court said he was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated robbery, burglary and murder and is being held on $350,000 bond.
His next court date is next Tuesday at 10:15 a.m., at Mahoning County court.
A third suspect, Preston Williams, 17, of Youngstown, was killed after several shots were fired inside the home.
One of the victims inside the home said he attempted to wrest a 9 mm semiautomatic Smith & Wesson away from Williams, causing the gun to fire.
A second victim said he retrieved his .38-caliber revolver after seeing the struggle between Williams and the first victim. Four of six rounds were fired from his gun.
Police said it won’t be known which weapon was used to kill Williams until the coroner’s report is completed.
