North Side house fire causes $6,500 damage
YOUNGSTOWN— A weekend house fire on the city’s North Side displaced one man.
Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, the Youngstown Fire Department was called to 303 Jefferson St., to extinguish a blaze in the bathroom of the home.
Jason Barnes said he woke up around 3:15 a.m. and saw a fire burning in the bathroom wall.
He said he thinks the fire may have originated in an electrical space heater he’d left running in the corner of the bathroom.
The official cause is still under investigation by the fire department.
Damages on the property, owned by Barnes’ grandmother, Mildred Barnes, totaled $6,500.
