Driver of car that dragged body sought
staff report
YOUNGSTOWN — Police are still trying to determine the identity of the driver of a car that dragged a body from the drive-through at the South Avenue McDonald’s restaurant and fled.
Officials at the Youngstown Police Department said Sunday that the driver had not been identified yet, no arrests had been made, and the identity of the dead man was not being released.
Police received a 911 call about 1 a.m. from someone in the drive- through, at the corner of South Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard, saying that there was a body under the car in front of him.
The caller also told the driver, a man in his 20s with short brown hair, in a fire-engine red Chevy Cavalier or Cobalt. The man got out of his car, looked underneath and then drove off without paying or getting his food, police said.
The body of the dead man was found two blocks west on Midlothian.
Police seek the public’s help in identifying the driver. Police are treating the death as a homicide. The body has been taken to Cleveland for an autopsy.
