3 Mahoning Co. candidates for Ohio Senate seat to be selected Tuesday
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Democratic Party’s executive committee will recommend three candidates Tuesday to succeed John Boccieri in the state Senate.
The candidates include five current officeholders, two ex-Youngstown councilmen and a former Mahoning County commissioner.
Mahoning makes up the majority of the 33rd Senate District that also includes all of Carroll County and portions of Stark and Tuscarawas counties.
The candidates expected to emerge as the finalists, according to a few Mahoning Democratic executive committee members, are: ex-Mahoning County Commissioner David Engler, Boardman Trustee Robyn Gallitto and Poland Trustee Robert Lidle.
The other candidates seeking the recommendation are ex-Youngstown Councilmen Rufus Hudson and Paul Pancoe; Alliance Councilman-at-Large Steve Okey; Struthers Councilman-at-Large Daniel R. Yemma; David Sisk, legislative assistant to state Rep. Mark Okey; New Middletown Councilman Anthony Didio; Sam Moffie of Boardman; and Stacia Erdos Littleton, former television new anchor at WYTV in Youngstown.
The other county Democratic parties in the district have until Dec. 12 to submit up to three nominees for the job.
