Former Struthers resident

Dr. Mark Horvath, formerly of Struthers, has received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The son of George and Debbie Horvath of Struthers, Dr. Horvath earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., in 2003. He is a 1998 graduate of Struthers High School.

He is in an emergency medicine internship/residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich.

Geoffrey Korff of Salem has received his juris doctor degree cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law.

He received a certificate of advanced property studies and many awards while at law school. Among them were the 2006-07 Mackenzie Hughes LLP and Edmund H. Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition Championship.

He was inducted into the Moot Court Honor Society and received the Journal of International Law and Commerce Award, the Fredrick E. Goldie Publication Award, a Melanie Gray, Wells, Gotschal Manges LLP Leadership Grant, a Dean’s Scholarship and was a college of law research assistant.

He recently took the Ohio Bar Examination for admission to practice law in Ohio.

A paper Korff authored, “Reviving the Forgotten American Dream,” has been accepted by the Penn State Law Review for publication in its autumn issue.

Korff attended Cardinal Mooney in 1999-2000 and graduated from Salem High School in 2001.

He played football at both schools. He is a 2005 graduate of Ohio State University.

Korff, his wife, Cynthia, and daughter, Alexandria, expect to relocate from Syracuse to practice law in Ohio. He is the son of Susan and Joseph Korff of Salem.
