DU membership banquet

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will have its annual membership banquet Sept. 26 at Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with cocktails at 6 and dinner at 7. The auction will begin at 8:30.

Ticket prices: single, $60; couple, $95; youth, $40; sponsor, $300; and sponsor couple, $340. Raffle is for a Remington 870 Super-Mag 12-gauge shotgun. Tickets are $3 each or three for $10.

Self-defense shooting

BROOKFIELD — Retired police Sgt. Bruce Knodel will be conducting a self-defense shooting and CCW permit class at the Brookfield Conservation Club, Sharon Hogue Road, on Sept. 5-7.

The first class will be from 6-10 p.m., and the last two sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fee for the class — $100 — includes all printed, study and testing material. Graduates will receive both certificates for the NRA Basic Pistol and Combat Self Defense Shooting.

10-week course for youths

VIENNA — Boys and girls ages 12-17 can participate in a 10-week course on safe gun handling and position rifle shooting at Fish Game Club of Vienna.

The first meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 9.

Equipment will be provided. Admission is $10 the first week, $5 a week for the final nine.

Courses at Eastern Ohio

SALEM — Eastern Ohio Conservation Club, West Calla Road, is offering a hunter safety course and a concealed-carry safety class Sept. 20-21.

The hunter education course will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Students must attend both sessions. The course is free. For precertification and information, call Mike Infante at (330) 793-0960 or Tim Taft at (330) 792-9359.

The concealed-carry safety course also will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The class is required by the state for anyone interested in obtaining a concealed-carry permit. The course cost $75, with lunch provided both days. For precertification, call Herb Campbell at (216) 513-8641.

Gun show at Hidden Valley

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. — A gun and sporting goods show will be Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hidden Valley Sportsmen’s Club, 268 Gilkey Road.

Admission is $4; children under 12 with an adult get in free. A concession stand and free parking will be available. An 8-foot table can be reserved for $15 for both days.

VIENNA — A hunter safety course will be offered Oct. 17 from 6-10 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fish Game Club of Vienna.
