Kid Rock’s video to showcase Detroit

DETROIT — Kid Rock is showing his affection for Detroit with a new video for a song on his new platinum-selling CD “Rock ’N Roll Jesus.” The boisterous Detroit-area rocker and bandmates on Wednesday visited the Motown Historical Museum to shoot footage of them performing the song “Roll On.” The museum is the former home of Motown Records.

This week a film crew also shot footage of Kid Rock driving around the city in a 1960s Lincoln Continental and visiting landmarks such as Tiger Stadium, the former home of the Detroit Tigers that is being demolished.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert J. Ritchie, says he “really wanted to capture the heart and soul of Detroit.” The video is expected to be released this fall.

Duke offers masterpiece for a bargain price

LONDON — An aristocrat wants to sell a masterpiece of Renaissance painting to British public galleries if they can meet his $92 million asking price. “Diana and Actaeon” is one of the greatest works by the Italian artist Titian and is worth an estimated $275 million on the open market.

The Duke of Sutherland offered the work to major public galleries in Britain for a third of that price.

The National Galleries of Scotland and London’s National Gallery launched a public appeal Thursday for funds to buy the painting. They hope to raise money from the government, arts bodies and private donors.

Rapper faces more drug charges in Ariz.

MIAMI — Rapper DMX has pleaded out of a Miami drug case and now awaits extradition to face more charges in Arizona.

The 37-year-old rapper and actor pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted marijuana and cocaine possession and was sentenced to time served. His lawyer Bradford Cohen says DMX is still in custody, waiting for Arizona authorities to pick him up on drug and animal cruelty charges there.

Cohen says DMX, whose name is Earl Simmons, decided to plead guilty when he was denied bail earlier this week due to the outstanding Arizona warrant. Cohen says if he hadn’t pleaded guilty, Simmons would have had to sit in jail in Miami until an October trial date.
