Edinburg, Pa., woman dies in 2-car accident

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A woman died in a two-car accident on U.S. Route 422 in Union Township.

Pennsylvania State Police said Bernice Mahood, 83, of 603 Garner Road, Edinburg, died at the scene at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday after she attempted to cross over Route 422 from Old Youngstown Road to Matthews Road.

She was broad-sided by a car driven by Maryjane Patton, 67, of McDonald, Pa., state police said.

No charges will be filed, as Patton had the right of way, police said. Patton was not injured.
