Speech to be carried live at Chevy Centre

staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — People can watch Barack Obama’s acceptance speech live under the stars Thursday evening on a large-screen TV on the Chevrolet Centre lawn downtown.

The Illinois senator will be in Denver to accept his party’s presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention.

Gather at 8 p.m.; Obama’s speech is scheduled for later in the evening — perhaps between 9:30 and 10 p.m., according to Bill Adams, an Obama campaign volunteer.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and dress for cooler weather. In case of bad weather, the broadcast will take place indoors at the center.
