Shepherd of the Valley resident is pitcher

NILES — Throwing out the first pitch at a Mahoning Valley Scrapper’s game on Aug. 23 at Eastwood Field was Dora Muntean, a resident of Shepherd of the Valley-Boardman for the past eight years, whose 83rd birthday was Aug. 27. She received a certificate of achievement from Shepherd of the Valley, the corporate sponsor for the Mahoning Valley Scrapper’s Senior Club, The Silver Sluggers.

A lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, Muntean lived in New Middletown with her husband, John, and daughter, Eva, before becoming a resident of Shepherd of the Valley. Her hobbies include going to casinos, playing bingo and cooking Italian food. She has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
