Sebring Fire Department gets Homeland Security grant
SEBRING — Sebring Fire Department has been awarded a grant for $62,073 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program. Fire Chief Jim Cannell said Wednesday that he’s excited about the grant and will use the money for new boots, helmets, coats — “all new gear from top to bottom.” The department, which also serves Smith Township, has 30 firefighters. Sebring is one of six Ohio fire departments that will share in grants that total $572,279. The grants were announced in a news release from the office of U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich, R-Ohio.
