Trumbull-Mahoning Green Pact adopted

Trumbull-Mahoning Green Pact adopted

AUSTINTOWN — Trustees approved measures to make township practices greener and also terminated the license of a local spa.

At their Monday night meeting, Trustees Bo Pritchard, David Ditzler and Lisa Oles agreed to adopt the Trumbull-Mahoning Green Pact for Austintown, a move intended to add environmentalism to the forefront of decision making by government officials and employees.

Though the pact is nonbinding, it encourages environmentally conscious efforts such as recycling, reducing carbon emissions, creating natural land areas, purchasing green products and building earth-friendly structures.

Later, the trustees passed a motion to terminate the spa operator’s permit at the Yo Shi Ko Spa in Austintown.

The establishment on 5534 Mahoning Ave. came under investigation more than once in the last year, and it jeopardized its license after employee Minnie Choi pleaded guilty to a prostitution charge June 30 at Mahoning County Area Court here.

According to state law, the guilty plea served as a violation of the operator’s permit and was grounds for the termination of Yo Shi Ko Spa’s license.
