Summit at YSU to address faith and jobs

YOUNGSTOWN — “Faith That Works: How Faith-Based Organizations Can Help Put People to Work” will be the topic of a summit planned from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 5 at Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center.

The program is being organized by Workforce Investment Board of Area 17 in cooperation with Flying High Inc. and is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The summit will bring together leaders from all faiths to identify what programs are in place and what programs are needed. Faith-based organizations that have programs to help individuals get and maintain jobs and those who wish to become involved in the effort should attend.

Guidance, help and technical assistance from professional facilitators will be available to groups after the event.

Among program participants will be local workforce development officials and community leaders including Bert R. Cene, Mahoning and Columbiana Training Association director; Jessica Borza, One-Stop Workforce Center chief operating officer; Paul Proctor, job specialist with Building Bridges to Destiny; Jeff Magada, executive director of Flying High Inc.; and Helen Paes, community director of the Regional Chamber.
