Boardman man injured in burglary at downtown radio station

YOUNGSTOWN — A Boardman man who police said ran through a plate-glass window at the WRBP radio station on West Federal Street late Monday night was caught nearby and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment of deep cuts, reports show.

A charge of aggravated burglary was expected to be filed against 20-year-old Jamal York of Shields Road once he is released from the hospital, police said today.

A radio station employee told police that two men had been wandering around the building and in front of the window around 9:45 p.m. when the smaller of the two, later identified as York, put his shoulder into the window and crashed through. He landed in the broadcast studio and then ran, as did his companion, when employees called for security guards.

York was found by police near a West Federal Street restaurant. His companion was not found.
