Info in short supply for shooting death of Lisbon woman

LISBON — Columbiana County law enforcement officials are remaining tight-lipped about the shooting death of a village woman.

The victim, Sherry L. Ieropoli, 47, was reported dead of an apparent gunshot wound at her home at 10984 state Route 45 about 7:42 p.m. Sunday.

Allen Haueter, the chief deputy for the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, said Monday the shooting is still under investigation. Haueter declined to describe the shooting, the type of weapon that was involved, or if any people were present that witnessed the shooting.

He said he would not indicate if the shooting was deliberate or an accident.

The county coroner’s office pronounced her dead at her home. Brian Fullum, an investigator for the coroner’s office, however, also declined to comment because of the ongoing investigation.

Fullum said more information may be forthcoming in a few days.

The county coroner’s office sends bodies out of the area for autopsies. Final results may not be available for four to six months, Fullum said.

Sheriff David Smith, county Prosecutor Robert Herron, and county Coroner Dr. William Graham could not be reached for comment.

Herron and his staff also are investigating the death.

Agents of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation were called in to help.
