YOUNGSTOWN — Area residents interested in pursuing careers in health care may attend a Health Care Career Workshop from 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Chevrolet Center, 229 E. Front St., Youngstown. The workshop is being held in conjunction with the job expo.

The workshop offers information on nursing, health information technology, laboratory and radiology technology, rehabilitative therapy, pharmacy technology and many other career paths. Participants will talk to health-care employers, educators and career pathway representatives who will be represented during a job expo, which will be going on from noon until 5 p.m.
Northeast Ohio HealthForce is presenting the event in partnership with the Trumbull, Columbiana and Mahoning County One Stops.
Northeast Ohio HealthForce is a cooperative of area health care providers, educators and workforce development experts, focused on actions that address workforce shortages in the health care industry.

Ultimate Drive pushes for end to breast cancer
WARREN — The 12th annual BMW Ultimate Drive, which supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Preston BMW, 3843 Youngstown Road. The BMW Ultimate Drive a fund raising program wherein BMW invites participants to test-drive new vehicles and donates $1 for every mile driven to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Vehicles available to be driven include include seven convertibles, including the Z4 and new M3 and 1 series, 6 series and 3 series and the new BMW X6 model, which BMW describes as the world’s first sports activity coupe. It is the Signature Vehicle, on which everyone who test drives it can at add his name.
Also during the day, there will be a presentation honoring a local hero, a community resident who has made an outstanding personal effort in the fight against breast cancer.
Grief recovery classes
HUBBARD — An organizational meeting for the 37th series of “Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups” is at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home Care Center, located next to the funeral home which is at 709 N. Promoting good health
HOWLAND — On Sept. 9, the American Cancer Society Northeast Ohio Region and the Trumbull County Healthy Community Coalition are offering “Worksite Wellness: How to Implement a Successful Program,” from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St.
The program is for employers who are seeking ways to promote a healthier work environment. Human resource managers, nurses, wellness committee members, resource agencies and others are encouraged to attend. The cost is $5 per person. The deadline to register is Sept. 2. 200 babies to be feted
BOARDMAN — Dr. Bryan Hecht and the staff at Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center at Youngstown, located in Canfield, will celebrate their first 200 successful pregnancies with a party for all of their “babies” and families on Sept. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hofmaster Pavilion in Boardman Park. The Center has reached this milestone after opening full time in Canfield in 2005. For more than 80 years, Lions Clubs have recycled glasses — cleaning, classifying and distributing them around the world. Children’s glasses are especially needed.
