Hartville setting for celebration of Mitchell 50th

• SALEM — Family members and friends joined Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell Sr., 9654 Stratton Road, on April 12 at Hartville Kitchen for a dinner party in celebration of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Hosts were their daughter and son, Cynthia Sue French of Columbus and John Edward Mitchell of Salem. There are also five grandchildren in the family.

The former Geraldine West and Mr. Mitchell were married March 29, 1958, at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church. They are members of First Christian Church of Salem.

Mr. Mitchell, also known as Jack, served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and was employed as a field estimator with First Energy in Youngstown and Ohio Edison Co. in Salem prior to retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Mitchell, also known as Gerry, is an insurance agent/account manager at the Salem Branch of The Church Agency Inc. of Akron, which is the couple’s son’s agency.

As a prelude to the anniversary event, the Mitchells spent 10 days in Orlando, Fla., with their children and grandchildren.
