Chefs’ Secrets to be classy event at the MetroPlex

Area chefs provide a mix of fun, food and excitement during cooking classes.
LIBERTY — The talents of 24 area chefs will be featured as they conduct a variety of cooking classes at the fifth annual Chefs’ Secrets event from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre.
Proceeds from the evening of fun, education and fine food will benefit Sojourner House Domestic Violence Program.
The event will provide an opportunity for area residents to learn new and exciting cooking techniques by attending classes on preparing appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts taught by chefs from area restaurant and local gourmet chefs.
Each class will be for approximately 30 minutes. Afterward participants will gather in the ballroom, where they will enjoy a full portion of the item they learned to prepare and will have the opportunity to browse an exposition area.
The chefs who are affiliated with area restaurants donate their time and food, and the private chefs donate their time and sponsors donate food items.
Featured displays
The exposition area will feature displays by food related businesses such as A M Party Rentals, Pampered Chef, Grill Stones and Gift Baskets for All Occasions, and samples of food items will be distributed by Gia Russa’s, Great Harvest Bread, 3 Sisters Caf , G M Sweets, Tropea’s Fine Pastries and Vino Novello Winery. Coffee will be provided by Caribou Coffee.
There will also be Chinese and silent auctions, raffles and a cash bar.
