BATAVIA, N.Y. — The Batavia Muckdogs scored eight runs in the third inning and went on to post a 10-1 victory over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in a New York-Penn League game Friday night.

The loss was the second in a row for the Scrappers (26-35), who return home tonight to face the State College Spikes in the first of five games in five nights at Eastwood Field.

Edwin Gomez hit a three-run double to highlight Batavia’s third-inning rally.

The Scrappers were limited to four singles by Thomas Eager and two relievers. George Brown pitched the final three innings and, despite the lopsided score, picked up a save, his third of the season.
