MLB ROUNDUP Thursday’s other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Blue Jays 14, Yankees 3

TORONTO — Roy Halladay beat the Yankees for the third straight time and Marco Scutaro hit a three-run homer. Halladay (15-9) improved to 13-5 in 30 career games against the Yankees, allowing three runs and five hits in seven innings. He walked two and matched a season-high with nine strikeouts.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Mets 5, Braves 4

NEW YORK — Carlos Delgado singled in the winning run in the ninth inning and tied a career high with five hits as New York completed a three-game sweep. David Wright hit his 25th homer and finished with three hits for New York, which has won three straight and nine of 10.

Nationals 4, Phillies 3

PHILADELPHIA — Austin Kearns hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning as Washington snapped a 12-game losing streak. The Phillies blew an eighth-inning lead for the third time in nine days. Ryan Madson (3-2) couldn’t protect a one-run lead after Carlos Ruiz put Philadelphia ahead with a solo homer in the seventh.

Cubs 3, Reds 2

CHICAGO — Carlos Zambrano (13-5) allowed a run and six hits in seven innings, including a solo homer by Jay Bruce in the sixth. The Cubs’ ace won for the first time since July 29 and ran his record against the Reds to 4-0 this season and 14-9 for his career. Zambrano hit his fourth homer of the season — and the fifth of his career against the Reds — to put Chicago up 3-0 in the third.

Dodgers 3, Rockies 1

LOS ANGELES — Derek Lowe allowed one run in 61‚Ñ3 innings, and James Loney homered and had two RBIs as Los Angeles salvaged the finale of a three-game series. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Rockies.

Giants 4, Marlins 3

SAN FRANCISCO — Emmanuel Burriss scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning for San Francisco. Burriss drew a one-out walk from closer Kevin Gregg (6-6), stole second and took third on a fly out. Pinch-hitter Bengie Molina was intentionally walked, but Gregg’s first pitch to Fred Lewis skipped past catcher John Baker, allowing Burriss to score standing up.
