Makosky 50th to be observed at Mass, reception


• CAMPBELL — Mr. and Mrs. John R. Makosky, 471 Peters Drive, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 23 by renewing their nuptial vows during a Mass at St. Lucy Church, where they were united in marriage Aug. 23, 1958.

Afterward they will be honored by family and friends during a reception at The Oak View in Struthers.

Invitations for the festivity have been extended by their family, Vikki Dota of Boardman, Joseph S. and Judy Makosky of Champion, Roseann and Simon Graj of Pleasantville, N.Y., Christine and Brian McCue of Warren, Julianna Britt of Warren, and John R. Makosky II and his fianc , Donna McGiven, of Hubbard. Completing their family are 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Makosky and his wife, the former Rose Marie Frazzini, were members of St. William Church in Champion from 1971 to 2006, where she was refreshment chairwoman and catering manager for 30 years, and where they served as co-chairmen for fish dinners held during Lent.

They have returned to St. Lucy, where he is a member and bulletin editor of the Men’s Society and she is a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Women’s Guild. They serve as co-chairmen of fish dinners during Lent at the church.

Mrs. Makosky retired after 26 years as a secretary/bookkeeper for USWA Local 1374 in Warren.

Mr. Makosky served 24 years as supervisor and marketing director for Vic & Syl Corp.dba Hardees Food Systems. He is a member and president of the Optimist Club of East Suburban Youngstown and was district governor for the 1976-77 term. A member of Knights of Columbus, he was as a grand knight from 2000 to 2002 and district deputy from 2002 to 2005.
