Man ‘critical’ after being shot in head

YOUNGSTOWN — A 19-year-old East Side man was in critical condition late Wednesday after he was shot in the back of his head near his home.

Police say Sirtan Alli, of McGuffey Road, is in St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was taken after being shot about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police found Alli lying on the McGuffey sidewalk near Cassius Avenue. They found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun registered to Alli lying between his legs. Alli was moving, but he was unable to respond to officers, police said.

Police said they didn’t find any spent rounds or shell casings at the crime scene.

A witness told officers a red car was seen leaving McGuffey speeding east with two men inside. Officers were unable to find the vehicle, later determined to be a red convertible Mitsubishi.

Police said they couldn’t find any witnesses to the shooting.
