Glendi, the annual Greek Festival at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, opens this evening and runs through Sunday. Expect plenty of Greek music, dance and food, including such delicacies as souvlakia, spanakopita and pastitsio. If you can’t pronounce those, just point! Hours are 5-10 p.m. (noon to 10 p.m. the other three days).

Not so many years ago, Akron had a rumblin’ music scene that spawned the likes of Devo and The Pretenders. Part of that scene was old-school punk rock act the Rubber City Rebels, who are still around and kicking. The Rebels will headline a show at Cedars Lounge, 23 N. The ruKus Festival begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Warren Community Amphitheatre in downtown Warren. This free all-day rock concert includes artists, vendors and eight rock bands, including The Kellys, The Zou, Winslow and Jones For Revival.
jArt Byrd is a videographer at WFMJ-TV 21 who also happens to make films. Catch his latest film, “Emotional Reload,” Monday at 9 p.m. outdoors in front of Chevrolet Centre. The 35-minute film will be followed by a screening of the 1973 classic “American Graffiti.”
