Nursing and rehab center reopens after renovation
YOUNGSTOWN — Pembrooke Place Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 850 E. Midlothian Blvd., has reopened after a major renovation project costing more than $2 million.
Archie Griffin, a two-time winner of the Heisman Trophy, is expected to attend the facility’s ribbon cutting celebration Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Pembrooke Place has also scheduled an open house for the community Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
In February 2007, Vrable Healthcare Companies, owned and operated by Allan and Linda Vrable, bought Pembrooke Place.
The facility specializes in short-term physical, occupational and speech therapies.

Solar-panel maker to add 134 jobs, double plant size
TEMPE, Ariz. — A solar-panel maker said it will add at least 134 jobs and double the size of its plant just outside Toledo.
First Solar plans to complete the expansion in two years.
The moves will add a fourth production line at the plant in Perrysburg.
A separate facility will be built to focus on development activities.
The Tempe, Ariz.-based company said Ohio officials are arranging an incentive package for the projects.
Some first-generation iPod Nanos’ batteries are bad
SEATTLE — Apple Inc.officials said Tuesday that batteries from a single supplier are to blame for the meltdown of some models of its tiny iPod Nano digital music player.
The company’s written statement came in response to a Japanese government report that two iPod Nanos overheated in Tokyo, scorching nearby paper and a woven straw mat.
Apple said the flaw affected first-generation Nanos, sold between September 2005 and December 2006, in very rare instances. The company’s statement added, “There have been no reports of serious injuries or property damage, and no reports of incidents for any other iPod Nano model.”
