Stricker birdied four of the last five holes to beat K.J. Choi by two strokes at Westchester Country Club. Last week: Sweden’s Carl Pettersson won the Wyndham Championship in his adopted hometown of Greensboro, N.C., beating Scott McCarron by two strokes.

LPGA TOUR Safeway Classic Portland, Ore.

Winner’s share: $255,000 Television: ESPN2 (Friday-Saturday, 4-6 p.m.; Sunday, 3:30-5:30 p.m.) Last year: Mexican star Lorena Ochoa won by five strokes for her third straight victory and the sixth of her eight 2007 titles. Last week: Australia’s Katherine Hull won the Canadian Women’s Open for her first LPGA Tour title, taking advantage of Yani Tseng’s final-round meltdown for a one-stroke victory at Ottawa Hunt. Hull, six strokes behind Tseng at the start of the round, beat Se Ri Pak by a stroke. Tseng shot a 77 to finish two strokes behind.

CHAMPIONS TOUR Boeing Classic Snoqualmie, Wash.

Schedule: Friday-Sunday Course: TPC Snoqualmie Ridge (7,183 yards, par 72) Purse: $1.6 million. Winner’s share: $240,000 Television: Golf Channel (Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 2:30-4:30 a.m., 6:30-9 p.m.; Sunday, 1-3:30 a.m., 6:30-9 p.m.; Monday, 1-3:30 a.m.) Last year: Zimbabwe’s Denis Watson won in a tour-record, seven-man playoff. Watson eagled the second extra hole to beat Craig Stadler and R.W. Eaks. Gil Morgan, Joe Ozaki, Dana Quigley and David Eger were eliminated on the first playoff hole. Last week: Fred Funk won the JELD-WEN Tradition for his first Champions Tour major, closing with a 3-under 69 for three-stroke victory over Mike Goodes at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore. Funk, also the winner of the season-opening MasterCard Championship in Hawaii, had a 19-under 269 total.

U.S. GOLF ASSOCIATION U.S. Amateur Pinehurst, N.C.

Knost and Ryan Moore (2004) are the only players to win the Amateur and U.S. Public Links in the same year.

Winner’s share: $441,900 Television: Golf Channel (Thursday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-noon) Last year: England’s Ross Fisher won his first tour title, birdieing the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Dutchman Joost Luiten. Last week: Peter Hanson became the second Swede to win a PGA European Tour event in Sweden, winning the SAS Masters by a stroke. Jesper Parnevik is the only other Swede to win a tour event in Sweden. He won in 1995 at Barseback and 1998 at Kungsangen.

NATIONWIDE TOUR Northeast Pennsylvania Classic Moscow, Pa.

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday Course: Elmhurst Country Club (6,850 yards, par 70) Purse: $525,000. Winner’s share: $99,000 Television: None Last year: Justin Bolli won at Glenmaura National, beating Richard Johnson and Patrick Sheehan by a stroke. Last week: Zimbabwe’s Brendon de Jonge won the Xerox Classic in Rochester, N.Y., for his first Nationwide Tour title, beating Australia’s Jarrod Lyle by two strokes.
