Former Wilsons Leather going out of business

MINNEAPOLIS — After years of struggling to recapture its glory days, the former Wilsons Leather announced it is going out of business.

Now known as PreVu Inc., the Brooklyn Park, Minn.-based specialty retail chain said it has been unable to obtain the capital or financing needed to continue its plan to turn its 100 mall stores into accessories boutiques.

The Wilsons Leather name will live on in outlet malls, however, at least for the time being. Wilsons sold its name, Web site and all 116 outlet locations to New York-based clothing company G-III Apparel Group Ltd. for $22.3 million in July.

American to join forces with transatlantic carriers

FORT WORTH, Texas — In a much-anticipated agreement, American Airlines said it will team up with British Airways and Spanish carrier Iberia to cooperate on flights across the Atlantic.

The three airlines have signed a joint deal that includes an application for antitrust immunity on transatlantic flights. If granted, the immunity would allow them to coordinate schedules, operations, marketing and other functions in an unprecedented fashion.

The airlines said the agreement will give customers more destinations, easier connections and easy integration of frequent-flier plans.

The antitrust application will also include Finnair and Royal Jordanian airlines.
