Four Columbiana jail escapees caught in Pa.


LISBON — Four prisoners who escaped from the Columbiana County jail early today have been caught by Pennsylvania State Police.

Sheriff David Smith said late today that no one was injured.

The four men escaped through a shaft in the new portion of the jail that contained wiring and plumbing.

Smith said the escape happened sometime after midnight. He said it wasn’t clear when breakout occurred.

The escapees were caught about 2:30 p.m. today.

The names and charges against the four were not immediately available.

The sheriff’s office said it would be issuing a statement on the capture.
