CANFIELD — The home of Rori and Bruce Zoldan, 3615 Sugarbush Drive, will be the setting for a wine taste, dinner and fireworks display from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 6 as a benefit for the Youngstown Symphony.

Musical entertainment will be by the Youngstown Chamber Players.

Cost is $125 per person for patrons and $175 for grand patrons.

Dr. Farid Naffah to host benefit for the elderly

BAZETTA — Dr. Farid Naffah of the Avamar Gastroenterology and Center for Endoscopy in Warren will host “An Evening Under the Stars” at the grand opening of his estate at 2747 Cadwallader Sonk Road, as a benefit for charitable causes within Trumbull County.

The fundraiser will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 6 and will feature dinner, a jazz concert by Joe Augustine, and an art exhibit and sale of the works of Yarek Godfrey.

Proceeds from the evening will be placed in the Trumbull County Community Foundation to assist the elderly of the community to meet medical co-pays and to buy medications.

Trip to Amish country set by senior center

EAST LIVERPOOL — Catholic Charities Senior Center, 400 E. Fourth St., is sponsoring a Sept. 12 bus trip to Sugar Creek in the Amish Country. The public is welcome.

Departure will be at 8 a.m. from the center, and will include dining at an Amish restaurant, a visit to a chocolate factory, shopping at the Swiss Village and Blue Ribbon Cheese and Winery. The return will be at 8 p.m. to Ohio’s Little Switzerland area.

AFICE seeking families to host young students

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange is seeking individuals to serve as community representatives and families interested in serving as hosts and working with students during the school year.

Those participating should have good communication skills and enjoy working with teenagers.

Families will be asked to house a foreign exchange student between 15 and 18 years old who is able to speak English. Students will have their own spending money and medical insurance.

Runathon to raise funds for scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN — A runathon has been scheduled from 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Wick Park as an inaugural fundraiser for the Otis Christian Scholarship Fund.

The goal is to raise $10,000 to be used as tuition for a deserving low-income minority student to attend Ursuline High School.

The event has been organized by Kevin and Keith Coleman in recognition of the influence Otis Christian has had on their lives by making it possible for them to acquire educations.

Residents are invited to pledge runners per mile or to make lump sum donations.

Benefit wine taste for March of Dimes

HOWLAND — Leavittsburg Liberty Tax Service and WineStyles of Warren have scheduled a wine tasting for Sept. 5 as a benefit for the March of Dimes.

The event will be at WineStyles in Howland Plaza on East Market Street, where five wines will be available for sampling and there will be refreshments.
