SCRAPPERS NOTEBOOK \From Eastwood Field

Game of Hope: Prior to the Scrappers game, the Softball Game of Hope Classic was contested. The game was a charity event put on by the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley to raise money for chronically/terminally ill children for the regional and especially, the Mahoning Valley. The teams — one from Mahoning and one from Trumbull County — featured local politicians, businessmen and community leaders. Trumbull rallied from an 11-9 deficit in the seventh inning to score twice and tie the game, which was then called tied 11-11 because of the time limit. Joe Fanto (two hits, one HR) was the MVP for Mahoning while Mike Yannucci (three hits, two HRs) was the MVP for Trumbull.

Worthy cause: The Scrappers will team with Handel’s Ice Cream to raise money for the Joe Kaluza Family Fund. Fans can support the cause by purchasing tickets at any Handel’s locations for today’s game, with $2 from each sale will be donated to the fund.

Winding down: After today’s finale against the Jammers, the Scrappers have 17 games left in the season following the All-Star break on Tuesday and Wednesday. Of the final schedule, nine of the games are at Eastwood Field.

Moving on up: Scrappers shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall moved into third in the NYPL with 39 RBI.
