Schmid jubilee is occasion for family gathering

• STRUTHERS — The family of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Schmid of Struthers gathered on Aug. 3 in Mansfield to honor the couple on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Hosts for the celebration were their children and their spouses, Stephanie and Matthew Grist of Mansfield and Leslie and Rich Black of Poland. Four grandchildren complete their family.

The former Thelma Callison and Mr. Schmid were united in marriage Aug. 9, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown. They are members of Faith Community Church, Youngstown.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Schmid was a teacher with Struthers Schools. She is a member of the Sewers Guild.

Mr. Schmid served with the U.S. Navy and retired as a machinist after being employed by Wean United in Youngstown and Rex Machinery in Lowellville. He is a member of the Organization of Protestant Men.
