Steps involved

The process of building and operating a power plant in Smith Township must follow these legal steps for creating renewable energy by 2011:

Approval by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

Air permit (submitted, expected to be approved by mid-2009).

Solid waste permit (expected to be filed in September).

Wetlands permit (not yet submitted).

The Ohio EPA will have public hearings and public discussions.
